When you are approved to have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC instead of Adobe Acrobat Pro X, this is how you would install it:
NOTE: If you have Adobe Acrobat Pro X or any other version, this will automatically get uninstalled during this process.
You will first get an email from Adobe notifying your access. Click "Get Started" button in the email. If you do not see this email in your inbox, check your spam and junk folder.
After you click the button, a web page will pull up leading you to the Adobe website. If you have never created an Adobe account before using your staff email, you will get the following screen shot to finish setting up your account. Your First name and Last name will be automatically filled out for you. You will also see your email address right above these fields. Fill out the remaining sections required. Your password can be the same or different than your MyClackamas password, as long as it fits the requirements. When you are done, click Complete Account.
If you already have an Adobe account, it will ask you to log in. if you do not remember your password, click on "reset password" at the bottom. These Adobe accounts are 'Personal Accounts' and not managed by the college.
Once you get logged in, you will be taken to a page showing all your available applications that you can use. You will see Adobe Acrobat Pro DC in the list of applications below. Click on the "Download" button right below it.
You may get the following message when you click download. This is expected and you can simply click "OK" and it will start downloading.
Go to the location the installer downloaded to and run it (this could simply be in the downloads folder on your computer). You may need to give us a call (x3500) to allow the installation to start if it asks for elevated access. When you get started a web page will come up. This is essentially verifying your account to allow you to install it. You can close the web page and go back to the installer.
The Adobe Acrobat DC Installer will come up with the following message. Fill in the fields that best relate to you. None of these fields will change how you will use Acrobat. It will determine if you will need assistance with it or not.
When you finish, You will then be given the screen to start installing it. Click "Start Installing" to get started. The installing process may take quite some time. The progress at the top left will give you an estimate time expectancy as to when it will be done. The installation may come up with an error. It is requesting to close out of whatever app is open (In my case it was Outlook) and the clicking "continue" to continue the install.
After the installation is finished, Adobe Acrobat Pro DC will automatically open up. This Acrobat is account based versus the serial number based the old Adobe Acrobat versions were. You will see your account in the top right and when you click on it it will show you your email. From here on you should be done!
You will see two new icons on your desktop. One of them is the Adobe Creative Cloud and the other is Adobe Acrobat DC. When you use Acrobat you will use the Adobe Acrobat DC icon. The Creative Cloud application is the primary sources of where all the Adobe products live. This is where you can install other apps and update the ones you do have installed. It is not required to have anything done with it at this time.
