First-time login MFA / password reset setup

If you're logging into your account and being asked to provide more information, this article may help you navigate the steps required to get into your account.

Using the Microsoft Authenticator App

1. If necessary, log in to your account at https://my.clackamas.edu


2. If necessary, click Next at the Microsoft "More information required" prompt.

 

3. Follow the prompt to download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone. When you have the app installed, press Next. 

 

4. Follow the steps to start adding your college account to the authenticator app. Make sure to select "Work or school account" when prompted. Press Next

 

5. You will then be presented with a QR code. Yours will look different than the screenshot shown below. Use the authenticator app to scan the QR code. After you scan the QR code, press Next

 

6. You will then be presented a random number. You should get a notification on your phone to enter the number provided. 

 

7. If the number was entered in correctly, you will be presented with the screenshot shown below. Press Next. 

 

8. Press Done. You are now all setup! 

 

Using a phone number

1. If necessary, log in to your account at https://my.clackamas.edu


2. If necessary, click Next at the Microsoft "More information required" prompt.


3. At the first "Keep your account secure" page, click I want to set up a different method.


4. Click the dropdown box, select phone, and then click Confirm.


5. On the Phone page, you can select the appropriate country, and enter your phone number. Select a verification method, and click Next.
    a. You can select to receive a text message, or a phone call to verify your phone number.


6. You will receive either a text message or phone call.
    a. If you opted for text, enter the code in the box and then click Next.
    b. If you opted for the phone call, answer the call when your phone rings, and press the # button on your phone, and then click Next if necessary.

 

7. You're done!

Using a password manager (1Password, LastPass, Etc.)

If you do not have a smart phone or access to a phone number, you can use MFA through a password repository like 1Password or LastPass.​​​ We will be using 1Password in this guide.

 

1. Press Next to get started.

 

2. Press I want to use a different authenticator app.

 

3. You should be prompted with a QR code. Keep this window open for the next steps. Open 1Password. 

 

4. If your college credentials are not yet stored in 1Password, you will need to create a New Login Item and fill out the username and password with your college credentials. Once they are entered, you can click on add more. A little window should pop up to allow you to press One-Time Password

       

 

5. While you have the QR code visible on your screen, press the QR code button in 1Password. You will then need to hit Save at the bottom. Press Next on the MFA setup page that contains the QR code.

 

6. Enter the number that 1Password generated into the MFA setup page. Press Next. 

     

              

    

 

7. You're done!
