Hardware Procurement

The ITS procurement team supports CCC employees in procuring a wide range of technology resources across campus, not limited to just computers. Centralizing technology purchases both for classroom and non-classroom use helps ensure accurate asset tracking, effective reporting and informed decision making.

Please note that some technology purchase requests may require compliance review and additional authorization from division deans or other budget approvers.

Common procurement requests ITS receives include...

  • Laptops/Desktops
  • Peripherals (Keyboards, Mice, Monitors)
  • Tablets
  • Printers
  • TV's
  • Projectors and other classroom technology

Other not so common procurement requests can include but are not limited to....

  • AV equipment
  • Cameras
  • Microscopes

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):

My keyboard has stopped functioning. Is the department responsible for replacing it?

No! Departments are not responsible for covering the cost of standard technology, including peripherals, if they are no longer functioning. Departments/employees must cover the cost of technology when they deviate from our purchasing standard or are in addition to already functioning equipment.

Can I request new standard technology if my current technology is still functioning?

Requests to replace functioning technology are evaluated at the discretion of ITS, based on several factors such as available funding, inventory, and other considerations. ITS reviews both the age of the equipment and its current performance when making decisions about replacements. If ITS does not have the stock available to replace fully-functional devices (monitors, computers, etc), ITS will work with your department to find alternative solutions.

Who processes the payment once technology is purchased?

All technology purchased through ITS is tracked and processed within ITS. Departments will not receive an invoice for the purchased items, and instead ITS will take care of payment processing using the account information provided (with exceptions). ITS does not process outstanding invoices (RFP's or PO's) until we confirm the equipment has been delivered and is functioning as intended.

Do I have to go through ITS to purchase department specific technology (i.e. microscopes, 3D printers, etc.)?

No, departments are not required to go through ITS for requests involving department-specific technology. While ITS is well-versed in college-wide standard technologies, we may not have expertise in specialized or niche equipment. If you would like assistance with purchasing and want to take advantage of available vendor discounts, please submit a hardware procurement request.

Can my department buy computers from Amazon or BestBuy?

No. ITS strongly advises against departments purchasing computers from vendors without ITS knowledge or support. Computers purchased independently are not tracked and may lack essential cybersecurity protections. Additionally, ITS cannot guarantee that such computers will be compatible with college-specific software or back-end systems.

Will the college pay for my work from home set-up?

No, at this time the college currently covers only in-office equipment. Employees may take their CCC-issued laptops home for remote work, but are responsible for purchasing any additional equipment, such as monitors or docking stations for home use. Requests for such equipment will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Can I get a CCC issued laptop for remote work if I already have a desktop/laptop in my school office?

Due to limited funding and resources, ITS will only provide one computing device per employee. Requests for extra equipment will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
