Which term is this?

We use two different methods to reference and notate the academic term.

The first method, called "Term", is used in everyday conversation on campus. For example, when we reference Spring Term 2025, you will see this listed as 2025/SP. This includes the calendar year, a slash, and then an abbreviation for the term: SU = Summer, FA = Fall, WI = Winter, SP = Spring.

The second method, called "Term Sort" is used in tables of data to sort the terms in chronological order as sorting by "Term" will not result in the correct order. The "Term Sort" method uses the academic year, followed by a decimal point, and 01 (Summer), 02 (Fall), 03 (Winter), or 04 (Spring). For example, when we reference Spring Term 2025, you will see this listed as 2024.04. This indicates we are in the 2024-25 academic year and we are in the fourth term of the year.
