Having trouble with DocuWare Form Submission

Resolution:

When troubleshooting DocuWare form submissions, follow these steps to identify and address any issues:

  1. Create a Merge Form:

    • First, create a merge form. Ensure that the target field in the merge form is a fillable area within the PDF.
    • Note that the target area cannot be a field from the form submission itself. You can only add data, not replace it.
    • The workflow trigger should be set to “Submission of a form”.
  2. Workflow History:

    • Access the workflow history for the submitted form.
    • Look for any errors or unexpected behavior.
    • Pay attention to the web service call activity related to the form submission.
    • Verify that the field you want to update is a fillable type in the PDF.
  3. Check Fillable Fields:

    • Ensure that the field you want to update is indeed fillable in the merge form.
    • Open the PDF in a reader and confirm that you can enter data into the field.
