When troubleshooting DocuWare form submissions, follow these steps to identify and address any issues:

Create a Merge Form:
- First, create a merge form. Ensure that the target field in the merge form is a fillable area within the PDF.
- Note that the target area cannot be a field from the form submission itself. You can only add data, not replace it.
- The workflow trigger should be set to “Submission of a form”.

Workflow History:
- Access the workflow history for the submitted form.
- Look for any errors or unexpected behavior.
- Pay attention to the web service call activity related to the form submission.
- Verify that the field you want to update is a fillable type in the PDF.

Check Fillable Fields:
- Ensure that the field you want to update is indeed fillable in the merge form.
- Open the PDF in a reader and confirm that you can enter data into the field.
