Monitor and Display Problems

Issue:

Issues with monitor or display

Resolution:

  1. Check Power and Connectivity:

    • Ensure the monitor is turned on. Look for a power LED (light) on the front or bottom of the monitor. If it’s not lit, press the power button again.
    • Verify that the data transfer cable (VGA, DVI, or HDMI) is securely connected to both the monitor and the computer. Make sure it’s inserted completely.
  2. Computer Sleep Mode:

    • If you stepped away from the computer and returned to a black screen, it might be in sleep mode. Try moving the mouse, clicking buttons, or pressing any key to wake it up.
  3. LED Status:

    • If the monitor’s LED status light is orange or flashing, it may be in Standby mode. Move the mouse or press “Esc” to wake it up. If that doesn’t help, reconnect the data cable and restart your computer.
  4. Monitor Settings:

    • Check the monitor’s settings menu. Reset it to default settings if necessary.
    • Adjust brightness, contrast, and other display settings as needed.
  5. Windows Display Settings:

    • Press Windows key + P to open the display options. Make sure the Extend option is selected.
    • Detect monitors in the Windows display settings.
