Network Drive Access

Need to Gain Access

If you have not had access to a network drive (Department Drive, <Letter> Drive, etc.) then your supervisor will need to put in a request to grant you access.

Restore Access

If you should have access to the department drives and just recently lost access to it, there are a few reasons that could be causing the issue.

Network drives shown with an X.

A common indicator of having issues accessing drives is seeing each of your drives having an X on them. It is important to know that even if they do have an X on them, there is still a possibility that you can still open them. This is due to the computer trying to connect to the drives before it even finishes getting connected to the internet. It is highly recommended to still attempt to open the drives and see if you get an error message. If you get a message such as: "The file path could not be found" or "This connection has not been restored" then verify that both of the following is true:

  • Please make sure you are connected to the internet using wifi or an Ethernet cord plugged into your computer.
  • If you are working from home, please make sure that you see "CCC DA Connection" at the top of your wifi options. It should have a status saying "Connected" underneath.

CCC DA Connection stuck on "Connecting..."

Another common issue that comes up is when the CCC DA Connection (commonly referred to as the Direct Access) is stuck saying "Connecting" underneath.

Our Direct Access is very picky when it likes to work.

  • The most common issue for when this happens is unstable internet connection. We are at the mercy of everyone having decent enough internet access in order to successfully connect to college resources.
  • Connecting to a hotspot is not recommended as this has been known to give very inconsistent results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

In very often cases, doing a simple restart of the computer can help fix this issue. Especially if you were able to connect to it before.

Note: If your Direct Access is labeled as "Clackamas CC Connection", your computer will need to be seen by ITS in order to fix the connection. This was our old Direct Access system and has been terminated since January 2024.
