Software Installation Issue

Issue:

Anytime you attempt to install or uninstall anything that affects the computer as a whole, you will be prompted with a screen similar to the one shown below.

Due to our cybersecurity insurance policy, we are only allowed to have a few global administrators for our college. This means that almost everyone is not allowed to make major changes to devices that are controlled by the college.

Resolution:

If you need to get software installed on a computer, you can do one of two things:

1. You can give the Service Desk a call at x3500.

  • If you are on campus, they can schedule a time for you to stop by the IT office or they can visit you in your office if possible.
  • The technician may be able to remote into your computer. If you are using a college laptop, you should have an application on your computer call TeamViewer. This is required to be present in order for remote support to be possible.

2. You can put in a Service Desk ticket. A technician will then work with you on getting software installed on the request computer(s).

Important note: Anyone who is using software that is not apart of the Approved Software list, or controlled by IT in any other way, is responsible for the ownership of the software. This includes maintaining any license keys, activation codes, etc. that the software would need. You would also need to provide an installer for technician to use. We cannot promise that every software will work or be allowed on college devices.
