External Identification

For models such as the Latitude and Precision series, they are usually good at labeling the exact model of the laptops on the underside of the laptop. 

Flip the laptops over and you should see the model written on the casing.

Internal Identification

For devices such as Dell XPS, Lenovo, and Microsoft Surface products, the external labeling is a bit too vague or only provides a model number. If the device can turn on fine, it is easier to search for the model through Windows. 

1. Click on the Windows Icon  in the lower left of the screen. 
2.  Then in the search box, search for System Information, and hit enter.
3. You will then have a window come up providing information about the computer. You will want to look for System Model.
